Yummy Tummy

Sitting in my hotel room in Turkey today I wonder

I had this great conversation this morning at the airport with a special person I haven’t seen for so long… It made me think, people don’t actually change as much as we sometimes believe they do. We can change the way we look, feel or dress… We can go from one boyfriend to another, from a city to another or from a job to another… But at the end we realize we still hate the ex-boyfriend’s character, we miss the smell of our mother, the long nights in our “real” bed and enjoy some things in a job, dislike some others, miss our co-workers or longer of the free mind we one day had…
Still, as we go forward we learn to love new places, we fall for new people, we build on new grounds and we end up building amazing souvenirs in place we never thought of…
All this to tell you, the south of Turkey is a place I’ve been getting attached to… I can’t yet give you addresses about what to do here because all I do here is work, but can definitely recommend for those that speak French to read: La delicatesse and for those that like their tummy to try out this recipe: (Perfect for cold afternoons)
I’ve had this morning for breakfast one scone, but it doesn’t taste half as good as this one…
This recipe was given to me during a cooking class in London by a fun classmate:

Ingredients:
225 g of flour
1 1/2 tsp of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
55 g of butter
25 g of sugar
150 ml of milk
1 egg
1 cup of dried raisins, (or dried cranberries)

Procedures:
Preheat the oven at 220C.
Whisk together: Flour + Salt + Baking Powder
Add to it the butter
Pat out the mix on a floured work surface, and cut rounds with a cutter, a mold or use the edge of a rounded cup
Place them on a baking sheet and add to them the raisins
Brush the top of scones with the beaten egg
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until risen and golden
Enjoy with strawberry jam or with rasberries or any other flavour or fruit you like
But mostly don’t forget to share these scones with people you love…

With a hungry tummy,
Soraya
